It’s been proven around the world – where more women are involved in decision-making, there is more peace and security.

Studies show that when women are partners in peace processes, it increases the odds of the peace agreements lasting over 15 years by 35%. Women bring to the table unique viewpoints, life experience and needs, which also allow for the consolidation of more creative and comprehensive solutions. Women can bridge between various population sectors and lead to a better understanding of the other side.

The Center for Women, Peace and Security, operated by Itach-Ma’aki – Women Lawyers for Social Justice, works to apply the principles of UN Security Council Decision 1325 in Israel, to increase women’s involvement and to implement gender-based perspectives when making decisions on issues of peace and security.
