The 1325 Joint Israeli-Palestinian Steering Committee
A unique, sustained partnership of Israeli and Palestinian women, built across conflict lines and maintained through war, working to ensure that women’s knowledge, analysis, and demands shape the outcomes of every peace and security process.
We are not a dialogue group. The Joint Steering Committee is a policy and advocacy body working under the joint leadership of Itach-Ma’aki’s Women, Peace and Security Center and the Jerusalem Centre for Women (JCW). We produce recommendations, train negotiators, brief governments, advise diplomats, and present to the UN Security Council and EU institutions and other international stakeholders. Our goal is not conversation. It is to change what happens at the table.
The Joint Steering Committee was established in June 2020 in partnership with colleagues from Ramallah, bringing together Israeli and Palestinian women. What began as a joint initiative for a conference to mark the 20th anniversary of Resolution 1325 has grown into nearly six years of sustained, binational policy work, developing new frameworks, training negotiators, and building the institutional infrastructure for women’s genuine inclusion in Israeli-Palestinian peace processes.
