Samira Azzam

Deputy Head of the Isfiya Local Council.

From Isfiya.

Previously, Ms. Azzam taught Arabic to high school students and served as the Chairperson of Isfayit Ani, the first women’s party to run independently in the 2018 municipal elections. She was elected as the first female council member in her village and the first deputy head of the local council.

Ms. Azzam holds a master’s degree in education, social studies, and culture from the University of Haifa, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Middle Eastern history and Arabic language and literature from the University of Haifa.

My training has introduced me to women who share my political ideology, which I once believed didn’t exist. This realization gives me hope! I continue to strive for self-determination that I can live with, and I’m still learning to listen to myself and evolve, hoping to work alongside my peers to realize our ideals in a stable, egalitarian, and democratic society.
